Animal Profile: Luke is an approximately 1 year old, 7 lb male chihuahua mix that joined us from San Bernardino in California on 10/12/25. We will share more about Luke as we get to know him in foster care.
Foster Update: Luke is an absolute delight. He is entertaining and silly, has an easygoing personality, and a sense of adventure. He loves to go on walks, play with other dogs, and play fetch his favorite orange octopus stuffie. He’s curious and respectful around cats, but hasn’t found one that reciprocates his interest yet If he’s not actively engaged, he will seek out a human to snuggle on a lap or by their side, and loves human attention (and belly rubs). He is good-natured, goes with the flow, and seems up for anything. He is crate-trained and potty-trained (we’ve had a few accidents in an area that is likely due to previous accidents from other dogs). He plays well with other dogs, but can become overexcited when meeting for the first time, especially on leash (we are working on those skills =). He ticks all the boxes for an active, sweet, and social dog, and would do best with an active family or one with other dogs to provide him with plenty of stimulation.
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
