My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dill is a sweet and silly pickle who took to humans and his new space easily, exploring and settling in on the couch the very first day. He loves cuddling and sitting next to you, though he is not really a lap cat and prefers to sleep on his own. He will patiently greet you when you wake up for breakfast and come home for dinner, and is not picky about food. He has a relatively quiet meow like a baby dinosaur that comes out most when hungry.

Dill loves a good play session when he has his daily zoomies. He loves chasing spring toys and bird wands, and being chased around until he retreats under the couch only to come out for more. He can climb, launching on to his cat tree or finding a path up to my dresser, but his favorite spot is just on the ottoman where he likes to loaf or curl up.

He's been around a small, friendly dog before; he is wary and territorial at first, but within a few days is more tolerant and interested in their presence, and I believe with time would get along fine with a calm dog.

This cat can be adopted with a friend or as a single cat.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
