My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tater is a 3-year-old, 59-lb golden boy with a gentle soul and a heart that wants so badly to trust. Shelter life is overwhelming for him, and when he’s scared, he freezes — not because he’s reactive, but because he’s unsure and terrified.

On a short leash, Tater struggles — not because he’s stubborn or reactive, but because fear stops him in his tracks. Give him space, slack on a long leash, or time off leash, and a different dog begins to emerge. Tater enjoys sniffing and quietly following his humans around. He’s non-reactive to other dogs, welcomes gentle pets, and seems happiest resting peacefully in a corner where he feels safe. He may be potty trained and has an independent, calm nature.

Tater will do best in a quiet, loving home with a yard (as leashes are still scary for him) where he can move at his own pace and learn that the world isn’t so scary. What breaks your heart — and will steal it, too — is how clearly he wants love, even when fear holds him back.

If you believe in second chances, soft hearts, and letting a dog move at his own pace… Tater is waiting for you.
