My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

💛 Meet Lieutenant Dan AKA Dan the Man! 💛
This big teddy bear is basically a 60-pound marshmallow wrapped in velvet! Lieutenant Dan is proof that the biggest hearts come in the strongest packages. He's mastered the art of being a proper gentleman — crate trained, walks like a dream on leash (impressive for such a sturdy boy!), and has the calmest, sweetest energy you could ask for.
Let's talk about those looks... absolute dreamboat status! But his personality? Even better. This perfect house hippo loves a good toy session now and then, but he's not about that chaos life. He's gentle, careful, and when he rests his big paws on you, it's the softest "hello, I love you" you'll ever feel.
Dan gets a little nervous around loud sounds and worries when he thinks he might be in trouble (his past wasn't the kindest), but his heart is pure sunshine. All he wants is to love you, make you proud, and soak up all the snuggles. He's still learning his commands and working on some house manners, but with a patient human and a cozy home, this good boy will absolutely flourish!
The highlights:
✨ Friendly vibes with other pups in the home — SLOW INTROS and submissive dogs may be best
✨ Unknown with cats (he's never met one!)
✨ Wonderful with kids!
✨ Champion cuddler and professional people-pleaser
Lieutenant Dan is ready to be someone's loyal shadow and lifetime best friend. Could that someone be you? 💛

Additional adoption info

Peace Love and Paws Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, animal welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of stray, neglected and abused animals. Peace Love and Paws Rescue is completely funded through fundraising efforts and public donations. All of our pets are cared for by foster homes and receive complete medical care, which includes worming, vaccinations, spaying/neutering and microchipping prior to their adoption.

This questionnaire is designed to help Peace Love and Paws Rescue determine if a specific dog is the right match for you and your household. All adopting and fostering parties are required to complete this form prior to adoption. Peace Love and Paws Rescue reserves the right to deny any adoption or fostering based on answers to this questionnaire and/or interviews prior to adoptions and placing foster homes!

More about this rescue

We are three passionate, animal loving dog moms who met through various volunteer efforts at local rescues in the Detroit area. We continued talking outside of volunteering and quickly came to realize that we all had similar goals, to help as many animals in need that we possibly could. In the Detroit area, there are so many animals who need homes, medical attention, and love.

We decided that we wanted to be able to do more to help these animals. We are raising funds through selling merchandise, fundraising, donations, and supporting local community events. All funds raised will be used to establish a nonprofit status, fund the medical needs of local dogs, and find shelter animals their furever home.

Follow us on our journey to create a rescue that provides animals the love and care they need while they find their home. We will post updates on our social media of the dogs we are able to help and how your support made a difference.
