My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elmo is incredibly affectionate and loves to be right by your side. In his foster home, he's become the perfect sleeping buddy, going under the blanket (which he loves!) and settling right down on the bed right next to them every night. Surprisingly, Elmo loves belly rubs and is ready to bare it all when you go in for some belly pets, often breaking out into soft purrs. When he's not snuggling, Elmo is a playful guy who loves his exercise. Get ready for some fun, because his absolute favorite toys are wand teasers (he'll leap and chase for ages!) and his trusty catnip banana (for when he needs a little post-play relaxation).

Elmo is a brave boy, he won’t hide when meeting people for the first time, and he’s always curious to get into spaces he hasn’t been. He loves to lounge during the daytime and if you look closely you’ll get a good look at his cute teefies while he’s snoozing. Elmo is super respectful and has never swatted or hissed. This gentleman is ready to transition from a foster home to his forever home! If you're looking for a handsome, loving companion who will make every night a snuggle session, Elmo is your guy!

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
