My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Silk – the bold explorer! Silk and Jute,KRLA-A-86827, were just babies when they were placed on the euthanasia list, dropped off at the shelter and too young to eat on their own. That is, until Kitten Rescue and their foster mom stepped in to save them. Now they’re thriving, playful, and full of life!

Silk is a confident, curious little adventurer who loves discovering every nook and cranny of her world. You will find her chasing spring toys, zooming through tunnels, or playing chase with her brother, Jute. And when playtime winds down, she transforms into the ultimate cuddle companion — always nearby, ready for snuggles and soft purrs. Silk brings a perfect mix of sugar and spice and everything nice to any home.

This girl isn’t just sweet — she’s famous! Silk has been the star of a Nathan the Cat Lady social media video, stealing hearts with her curious eyes and playful spirit.

If you’re looking for a kitten who’s equal parts daring explorer, superstar, and snugglebug, Silk is your girl!

Silk and her brother Jute are inseparable — where one goes, the other is sure to follow. They’re a bonded pair and need to be adopted together into a loving forever home. Please visit Jute's profile!

Jute and her bonded sister Silk are FIV-positive. FIV lowers the immune system so Jute and Silk's new family will need to keep a watchful eye on them. They are both healthy, happy, and ready to bring warmth and joy to a new family. Their foster mom is happy to answer any questions/concerns.

These kittens will both be re-tested at 6 months to confirm a positive or negative diagnosis. There is a possibility of a false positive and of them re-testing negative.

Additional adoption info

We adopt animals to homes in the Los Angeles area and neighboring counties.

To help ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, committed homes, we have a screening process before you can adopt a pet from Kitten Rescue. We reserve the right to turn down potential adopters as we deem necessary. First, we ask that you complete our Adoption Questionnaire at kittenrescue.org/cat-adoption-form/. You can complete the form online or you may stop by a weekly adoption event to complete form in person. Second, a home visit or a home delivery of the cat or kitten is also required as part of our adoption process.

The Kitten Rescue adoption fee is $150 for a kitten or cat up to 10 years old, and $100 for each additional kitten or cat to the same household ($250 if you adopt a pair). Cats above 10 years old have a fee reduction of 50%, for an adoption fee of $75 each.

All of our cats have already been:
Spayed or neutered
Vaccinated – with at least one FVRCP vaccination
Treated for fleas
Dewormed
Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
Microchipped

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
