Say hello to Heart Eyes, a 5-year-old Shih Tzu who lives up to her name — her affectionate, loving nature will capture your heart instantly. She came to us with some eye issues, which we’re carefully managing medically, but they don’t slow down her sweet, friendly personality one bit.
Heart Eyes loves attention, cuddles, and the gentle companionship of her people. She’s looking for a patient, loving home where she can feel safe, comfortable, and adored.

Foster Update: "I had the joy of spending a doggie day out with sweet Heart Eyes a few weeks ago, and it was love at first sight - I knew I had to foster this precious gem. This sweet, bright blue-eyed, 8lb, 5-year-old shih tzu is a bundle of joy, radiating friendliness, affection and obedience. Heart Eyes gets along very well with my 4-year-old, 14lb, Maltese mix at home, and they play together with infectious enthusiasm. She savors every bit of her meals, especially delighting in the boiled, deboned chicken drumsticks I prepare for her. Potty-trained and pad-savvy, she makes caring for her a breeze. Her obedience is impressive, responding promptly to her name and showering attention on those around her. She adores snuggling up in her cozy doggie bed and being the center of attention. She has soft, brown, shed-free fur. She loves to go on walks, car rides, and playing in the yard. I'm confident that this lovely girl will find her forever home, bringing boundless happiness to her future loving family."

Border Tails Rescue is a licensed no-kill animal rescue and welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of stray dogs across the world, with a unique focus on Mexico. Border Tails Rescue has a physical shelter facility with dogs on site for viewing everyday. Border Tails Rescue primarily works with rural shelters across the country, including but not limited to TX, AR, AL, LA, KY, IN, and MI on a regular basis as well as CACC, Chicago’s open intake shelter. BTR is Woman-founded by Harleigh Garcia, who was 20 years old at the time. The organization was founded in December of 2019 and Border Tails Rescue is registered with Illinois Secretary of State as a non profit organization. Border Tails Rescue operates entirely on donations and adoption fees.
