River is a very large spayed female, gorgeous purebred German Shepherd. She was a family dog who for no fault of her own, ended up in an Ohio shelter. A rescuer got her out and fostered her for a while, but one of the dogs in the home didnt get along with her. River came to our rescue very frightened and stressed. She bonded immediately to our kennel manager Tim, but she is very frightened of anyone she doesnt know. We would love to find a foster home for her so she could be in a home environment - somewhere she could be given time and patience for her to adjust to new people. Adoptors would need to make multiple visits to allow her to get to know them, and plan on long slow walks and lots of treats to earn her trust and affection. Once she bonds with you, she is an absolutely wonderful dog who will be the best family dog ever.

our applications give an introduction to the dog including age, size, breed or educated guess at breed mix, any temperament quirks or likes/dislikes, housebroken/not, required exercise, care, fenced yard, other dogs, cats etc. We look for great matches for the individual dog and we do check multiple references before approving the adoptor.
