My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Captain is a cute one-year old male Hound mix who was found on State Route 676 near Marietta Ohio along with his companion (Major). Thanks to Pet Search Alliance both dogs were safely confined, and they were picked up by our HSOV staff who brought them to HSOV on November 4, 2025. Neither boys were wearing a dog license nor were they microchipped.

Captain has a brown short smooth coat with tan/cream highlights, a longer-haired white/black ruff on his chest, a long curled tail, and an adorable face with dark brown eyes, a dusting of white on his muzzle, a black button nose, and short floppy ears.

This young man is a happy boy who has a super-friendly disposition.

Captain weighs 42 lbs.

Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Lauryn Hamilton for accompanying Captain for his photo session on November 5th and showering him with attention (which he loved).

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Captain will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.

We believe that Captain and Major are most likely siblings (or related).

Captain went home with a foster family on December 13, 2025 so that he could enjoy being in a real home environment instead of a shelter kennel or floor crate. Captain is still available for adoption .. If you are interested in giving Captain a forever home, please complete an HSOV foster/adoption application so that a meet-and-greet can be arranged with Captain's foster family.
