My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Scarecrow, a 4-year-old sweetheart who is truly as sweet as honey. Despite his gentle nature, he’s been overlooked for more than a month but anyone who spends even a moment with him can see what a special cat he is.

Scarecrow is incredibly easygoing and affectionate. He loves to snuggle, lean into pets, and share quiet moments with his people. He also gets along wonderfully with other cats and is absolutely thriving in our open cat room, where his friendly and laid-back personality shines.

This loving boy has been waiting far too long for the perfect home. Scarecrow is ready to bring sweetness, warmth, and affection into someone’s life he just needs a chance. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will always be grateful for your love, Scarecrow is more than ready for his forever family.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
