Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Finnley
Finnley is a housebroken, dog-friendly girl who loves nothing more than settling in with a good chew toy. When it comes to dog friends, her playstyle is the wrestling type — lots of tumbling, rolling, and goofy fun, so she’d do best with dogs who enjoy that kind of physical interaction.
She’s a quick learner and already knows sit, shake, and lay down, and she’s happy to show off her manners. On walks, Finnley generally strolls nicely on leash, though she may pull if something interesting catches her attention.
Finnley would thrive in a calm, predictable home where she can feel safe and confident. Young children make her nervous, so a home without them would be best. She also does not like cats, so a cat-free home is a must.
If you’re looking for an affectionate dog who loves chew toys and playful dog friends, Finnley could be the perfect match.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit the shelter during adoption hours. Be sure to let the front desk know the name of the dog you are interested in visiting. Once you have met with the dog and an application has been approved, we will then ask to complete a meet and greets with any dog(s) that are currently living in the home or visit frequently.
Our adoption hours are as follows:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 12pm-5:30pm
Thursday: 2:30pm-5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 12pm-4:30pm

More about this shelter
For over a century, the Humane Society of Scott County has been a cornerstone of our community, making it a better place for both people and pets. While our mission has evolved to meet changing needs, one thing has remained constant—we are unwavering advocates for those who cannot help themselves.
As the only open-intake shelter in Scott County, we are a lifeline for animals with nowhere else to go—regardless of age, health, breed, or behavior. Without us, lost, abandoned, and at-risk pets would have no safe haven. But our work goes beyond sheltering animals—we are deeply committed to helping the people. Being a resource to pet owners allows us to do what’s best for animals and their people too.
That’s why we provide essential resources to help keep pets in the homes that love them. From low-cost vaccine and microchip clinics to our free pet food pantry, we’re here to support both animals and the people who care for them. Because at the Humane Society of Scott County, we believe that when pets and people thrive together, the entire community benefits.
