Meet Radar 4! He’s a friendly guy that likes pets and affection. Once he gets his initial excitement out, he walks very nicely on his leash, checking in frequently with his person. Radar 4 knows sit and loves his treats! He has great leash manners - might get a little excited about squirrels, but he is easy to redirect back to you (especially if you have some treats!).
Radar 4 enjoyed an overnight slumber party with a volunteer, and he proved to be an exceptionally sweet, polite, and easy companion. He was wonderful in the car, sitting quietly in the back and watching the world go by with calm curiosity. Throughout his stay, Radar showed just how affectionate he is—he loves snuggles and likes to sit close, quietly enjoying being near his people.
During his adventure he explored Patapsco State Park, sat peacefully by the water in Canton, walked along the waterfront, and enjoyed a stroll through Patterson Park. He walked beautifully the whole time. Inside the home, Radar’s manners were lovely. He didn’t bark, chew, or get into anything—just sniffed around politely. He was fully housebroken, held it overnight, and slept through the entire night in a separate room. In the morning, he greeted his friends with so much sweetness and happiness.
Radar was also wonderful with kids, never jumped on anyone, and was consistently calm and gentle. He didn’t beg for food and ate his meals well. He even stayed home alone for about 1.5 hours with zero issues—no barking, crying, accidents, or trouble. He simply napped.
Radar 4 recently enjoyed a rainy day Dog’s Day Out adventure—and he made the most of it! Though a little shy at first, Radar 4 quickly warmed up, offering gentle kisses, and leaning in for affection once he felt comfortable. He loved his pup cup from Morning Mugs and showed off his playful side as he excitedly watched squirrels and birds at Federal Hill Park. Radar 4 was very well-mannered on leash, passing by other dogs with ease, and he seemed especially curious about children, happily gazing at the playground. He ended his day with a visit to Petco, where he proudly picked out a new toy.
Radar 4 may need to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. He is eligible to come back to BARCS after adoption for socials.
Radar 4 arrived to the shelter with dermatitis, and his coat was a little thin. It is already starting to fill in now that he has good nutrition and supplements. We can’t wait to see his

More about this shelter
BARCS is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization operating Maryland’s largest animal shelter and pet adoption center.
