My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dante is a 7-month-old mixed breed puppy who found himself back at the shelter because his previous owner, while caring, was juggling two jobs and school and couldn’t devote the time a growing puppy needs. Now Dante is looking for a family who can give him the attention, structure, and fun he deserves.

This young guy is full of classic puppy charm — wagging tail, happy kisses, and a loose, relaxed body when interacting with people. Dante is submissive, will happily roll over for affection, and walks calmly on leash, though his excitement can sometimes turn into excessive jumping when he’s feeling playful. He has lots of puppy energy and will thrive with regular exercise and mental enrichment.

Dante is house trained, kennel trained, and leash trained, and he already knows the commands outside, sit, and cage. He has always been an indoor-only dog and was taken outside on leash for bathroom breaks. He loves squeaky toys and bone treats, though his previous owner noted that he can sometimes be a picky eater and may not always finish a full bowl.

He is good and compatible with kids and has not been around cats. With other dogs, Dante can be a bit rough with smaller puppies and does best with dogs closer to his size. During his playgroup assessment on 1/22, Dante greeted other dogs at the gate with a loose body and was easily steerable. Upon entering the yard, he initially tensed when surrounded by the group, but relaxed more around dogs similar in size. With time, he opened up and engaged in play. He was picked up at the end of playgroup and is considered dog selective with a push-and-pull play style.
