Introducing...Montecarlo! Our special 8 year old senior love!
We met Monte at our Super Adoption Saturday back in September where he really tugged on our heart strings. Heartland was stationed next to AntiCruelty at the event, and we watched Monte all day-- just being the best boy and letting everyone pet him, just hoping to be noticed and get himself into a home.
He didn't get adopted at the event, but we were happy to bring him to Heartland, since we are transfer partners for ACS anyways! We promised to find him a home that will love him and never leave him behind.
Monte has been living in a foster home and his foster mom raves about how wonderful he is. She adores him, as does every person who meets him. One thing that is so cute about Monte, and which is what drew his foster mom to him, is that he LOVES the water. He loves swimming, going for hikes and wading in, lounging at the beach. Monte and his foster mom bonded over their shared love of the water!
Montecarlo is an A+ houseguest - house-trained and can be trusted to free roam while his person is away. Here is what his foster mom has to say about him:
"Monte Carlo is a very handsome, compassionate and loving guy!! You won’t find a better companion for the perfect family—just look at his heartfelt eyes!! He’s an exceptionally good looking stud muffin that I can’t say enough great things about. He’s content to be with you, enjoys long walks in nature, loves wading in water, loves being with other dogs and is happy to see you when you come home.
Here are some additional things I love about Monte:
-- Monte loves snuggles and continues to signal that he wants more touch/massage when I stop.
-- We walk for 60+ minutes in the forest every day around 10 am. He is a great walking buddy!
-- Every morning, he plays with his toys and throws them up in the air while waiting for breakfast. Hasn’t caught them from up in the air yet but once his toy landed in the toy box!
With an awesome personality he’s also the perfect gentleman. I trust him in my house, with kids and with everyone he meets (even my housecleaner who is generally afraid of dogs likes him). On rare occasions if you forget to let him out to do his business, he signals with a very cute little whine to give the hint.. I am sure his forever family will wish he had been a member of their family long ago!!"
We also know that Monte gets along nicely with other dogs and does well meeting most. Like many mature adult dogs, he does have his preferences for the types of dogs he will want to live with - the calmer types are typically his jam. He has spent time in a home with 2 large female senior dogs and did well with them. Being near his people, though, is his main priority! He just has so much to give and is so deserving of a home for his golden years. We hope you ask about him today!
Monte’s adoption fee is $175 (and waived for an adopter aged 65 or older through our Seniors for Seniors program). This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
