My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I’m Serena – and my name fits me perfectly.

I’m a calm, quiet girl with a soft black coat and an even softer heart. There’s something peaceful about me – I like to take things at my own pace, observe the world around me, and soak up gentle affection when I’m ready.

I’m exceptionally sweet once you get to know me. I love pets and quiet companionship, and every day I’m coming out of my shell a little more. I may be calm, but I have a brave, curious spirit too. The volunteers say I bring a “serene” energy wherever I go – and I think they’re right.

I’m not too picky, though I might prefer a good bowl of dry food over wet. What matters most to me is feeling safe, loved, and understood. If you’re looking for a gentle soul to bring warmth and calm to your home, I’d love to be your Serena. 🖤

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
