My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rain is a quiet, soft-hearted senior who loves her own space and takes her time warming up to people. She likes to sleep during the day but will come out to greet you in the morning and later in the day for food.

Rain is quite shy and will often stay tucked out of sight when visitors are around or when there is movement in the home. Once she trusts you, and if you’re slow when reaching out to her, she’ll lean into your pets and purr. She has a cute habit of rolling onto her back like a little otter when she’s in the mood for treats!

Rain is not described as cuddly, but she enjoys affection in her own way. She would thrive in a calm home with patient humans who understand she needs space and quiet to feel safe. She wants a gentle, loving companion who lets her come out on her own.

Rain startles easily and would do best in a peaceful adult only home and as the only pet in the home. She would be perfect for an adopter who works during the day and would like a low maintenance cat companion. Do you have a home for Rain?

1.
Submit Application

Before submitting an application, we ask that you review the information on cat care and our policies here: https://www.vokra.ca/adopt

2.
Interview

Our adoption counsellors focus on educating our adopters on cat care. Once approved, they use a matching process to find your perfect pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

When you find a kitty you like, you will arrange an appointment with the foster home - where the kitty feels most comfortable and confident.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Our adoptions contract process includes reviewing critical cat care information and providing contacts for post-adoption advice.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Woo hoo! You will be expected to take the kitty to a free post-adoption vet check within 2 weeks, and follow up on any required vet care.

Additional adoption info

Each year more than 1,400 cats and kittens are adopted through VOKRA. We're always here after the adoption if you need ongoing advice.

Response times can vary, depending on the time of year and available volunteer resources. Applications and help requests for non-emergency issues will usually receive a response in 1-3 days.
