My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Indigo, a gentle giant tipping the scales at over 15 pounds and fully embracing his post-streets glow-up. Around 4 years old, Indigo has happily retired from survival mode and now enjoys the finer things in life: soft beds, reliable meals, and all-around good vibes.

Indigo is confidently friendly and skips the whole “hide under the bed when guests arrive” routine. He’s relaxed with new people, doesn’t mind being picked up, loves a good brushing, and is perfectly content lounging on the bed right by your side.

He also has excellent cat manners and has passed the vibe check with all three resident cats in his foster home. Indigo respectfully gives shy cats their space and brings a calm, easygoing energy that makes him a great fit for a multi-cat household.

Indigo recently had entropion surgery and is currently rocking a recovery cone—just a temporary accessory, and he’s healing beautifully.

If you’re looking for a big, gentle, people-loving cat with a soft heart and stellar house manners, Indigo is ready to make himself at home in his forever family.

More about this shelter

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC), proudly operated by the Montgomery County Office of Animal Services, provides high-standard sheltering and care to the homeless, abused, and neglected animals in Montgomery County and ensures the safety and welfare of the county’s citizens.

The Center’s doors are open to all animals in need from: dogs and cats to farm animals, wildlife, and exotics. Trained staff provide animals with daily care, mental and physical enrichment, health and wellness checks, and more. Through adoptions, spay and neuter assistance, vaccination clinics, education and outreach, the Center serves as a critical community resource to promote and advocate for responsible pet care. With community support and partnerships with other animal-welfare groups, our Foster, Rescue and Volunteer programs enhance and save the lives of even more homeless animals.
