My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Abbey — the happy, playful, and oh-so-smart girl you’ve been waiting for!

This gorgeous 1–2-year-old, 70-lb German Shepherd mix is as friendly as they come. Abbey loves everyone she meets — dogs, people, and anyone willing to toss her favorite ball! She’s a natural fetch champion who brings the ball back gently every time, showing off both her manners and her big heart.

Abbey already knows a few basic commands and is a quick learner — she loves to please and picks things up in no time. She’s working on her leash skills and making great progress, but she’ll need a secure yard since she can be a bit of a fence climber.

Always cheerful, affectionate, and eager to be part of the fun, Abbey is the kind of dog who fills every room with joy. She appears to be mostly housebroken, is spayed, fully vetted, microchipped, and ready to find a forever family who will love her as much as she’ll love them.

More about this rescue

Eleventh Hour Rescue, based in Morris County NJ, is a primarily volunteer run, no-kill rescue that saves animals on Death Row from high-kill shelters. Eleventh Hour Rescue dogs and cats are cared for by our compassionate and dedicated team of volunteers and staff. Whether in foster homes, our kennel or adoption centers, each dog and cat receives a clean and safe living environment, fresh food and water, medical attention, and most importantly an abundance of love and care until they find their FURever homes. We are dedicated to educating the community about the animal over-population problem and the importance of spaying and neutering. All funds go directly to supporting our animals and their needs. We are an eligible charity under federal code 501(c)3 founded in 2004.
