My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Otis is a staff favorite and adored by everyone who meets him! Before we continue, we want you to know that Otis is not contagious! He just has very sensitive skin. He's had a rough life so far for such a young boy, but not one short of love. Otis had a caregiver who was homeless and did their very best to care for him. But when Otis started having bad skin allergies, he was taken to the shelter for medical care, and then he was returned to his caretaker - three times!

However the last time Otis was taken to the shelter, they kept him as it was clear he needed more care than his caretaker could provide, as well as an indoor-only home. Otis' skin issue turned out to be more than the shelter could handle, and he was put on the euthanasia list! Social media blew up with posts begging for Otis' rescue, and one of those pleas made it's way to us and we saved him in June 2025.

We immediately began advanced care for Otis, and his skin has greatly improved and is continuing to heal. He also received entropion eye surgery and now he feels much more comfortable.

While we are grateful Otis is medically improving, since arriving to us he continues to be starved for attention - more than we can provide. He loves visitors and gets so excited, he will start head-butting and will quickly jump into your lap! And then becomes sad when he knows you're leaving him. It's heartbreaking. Otis deserves so much more and we want him to have it!

Not only does he love people, but he is also ok with many other cats as long as there are proper introductions. And reminder: He is not contagious! YAY!

Otis urgently needs a foster home! Not only would being in a home with more attention make him happy, happy cats heal better too! Please come visit him and consider fostering, or even adopting, our very, very sweet and special boy!

Go meet their pets

Due to COVID-19, we are not currently holding in-person adoption events. Most of our cats are in foster homes and we are doing virtual meet-and-greets with them.

We also have adoptable cats at our two partner cat cafes – CatCafe Lounge (https://www.catcafelounge.com/) in West Los Angeles and Cat Therapy (https://www.cattherapysb.com/) in Santa Barbara. You can make a reservation on their websites, or we can arrange a meeting by appointment once you have filled-out our application and spoken to our team.

More about this rescue

Stray Cat Alliance is a non-profit organization focused on educating and empowering communities to advocate for every cat’s right to be safe, healthy, and valued. Everyday, our team works to save the helpless lives of kittens and cats by providing: spay/neuter, trap-neuter-return (TNR), adoptions, wellness care, medical care, and community shelter support. Our goals are to:

-Eradicate cruelty toward cats through advocacy, rescue, and education.
-Find loving forever homes for cats and kittens taken in through all of our programs.
-Help shelters transform from executioners to safe havens for cats by implementing SCA’s life-saving policies and procedures.
-Educate the community about the plight of free‐roaming cats and empower people to take action to stop population growth through spay and neuter.
-Create and sustain a No-Kill Nation by mentoring other communities to become no-kill through our grassroots programs.

Stray Cat Alliance envisions a time when all cats are valued and safe whether in homes or communities, and when shelters serve as temporary safe havens.
