My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kenai: A Christmas Boy with a Heart Ready to Heal

Male • Neutered • DOB 12/25/2014
Currently in Boarding – Naperville, IL

Kenai was born on Christmas Day, but the gifts of love and stability have never come his way—until now. As the father of this rescued group, Kenai is the most confident and curious of the pack. Like many Australian Shepherds, he’s intelligent, observant, and quick to learn—he’s simply never had the opportunity to be someone’s dog.

Kenai was found after years of neglect—not abuse, but a life with little human interaction or affection. Now, he’s timid and fearful, but not broken. With guidance and love, he’ll absolutely thrive.

Kenai is neutered, dewormed, fully vetted, and up to date on shots. He’s currently in boarding in Naperville, but what he truly needs is a quiet foster home to decompress, get individualized attention, and learn to enjoy cuddles, leashes, and life inside a home.

To build confidence, Kenai must be separated from his pack, as they lean on each other and withdraw from people when kept together. Independent placement will help him blossom.

Australian Shepherds are loyal, eager to bond
