Nocturne came to ACC after being dropped off at a local precinct with no background information-just a quiet, watchful gaze that hints at a lifetime of stories untold. At first, this dignified older gentleman was all hisses and hard boundaries, but lately he's begun to soften: accepting chin rubs with a scratcher tool, batting around toy mice, and calmly nibbling on treats once he knows you mean no harm. He's a sensitive cat rediscovering trust, one patient moment at a time.
My Ideal Home
Nocturne will do best in a calm, experienced, adult-only home where he can take things at his own pace. A quiet space with cozy hiding spots, soft lighting, and gentle daily routines will help him feel safe. He's not a cat who'll rush into your lap-but once he trusts you, you'll have the rare joy of seeing a shy cat truly bloom.
Good with Kids?
No-he's best suited for an adult-only home due to his fearful and defensive reactions when startled.
Good with Other Pets?
Unknown history. With his cautious nature, he'd likely prefer to be your only cat, or could potentially adjust to another calm, respectful feline after a very gradual introduction.
Behavior Determination
Level 3 - For experienced cat adopters. Nocturne is fearful in the shelter; he'll need slow, predictable care and plenty of space to decompress.
Other Fun Facts
His name suits him perfectly-quiet, observant, and a bit mysterious. Once the lights are low and the noise fades, you'll find Nocturne's true self emerging: a thoughtful soul who finds comfort in calm and companionship in patience.
ADDENDUM: Nocturne has recently made great progress. CHECK his VIDEO, tempted by treats, he let his guards down and allowed a skilled staff to pet by hand his cheeks and chin, leading Nocturne to lean into pets...even stretch and come to the edge of his cubby to "see the world".. What's next? Stay tune and watch this boy getting better and better by the day!!!
