My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My Foster Writes:
Tempura is an independent spirit who loves to do his own thing! He loves to have space and quiet time during the day and play with his toys by himself at night. He's very curious and loves to explore the home. He's also a huge fan of treats! He does require a patient home as he is very shy and takes some time to warm up. While he may not be cuddly or snuggle up on your lap, he's a nice companion!

A volunteer writes:
What is a little all ebony kitty to do, all alone in a kennel, in a big shelter when he comes from a house filled to the brim with other cats? That little kitty will usually stay at the back of its cubby and try to keep its head above the water until for what ever reason, a breakthrough happens. Sometimes it's sudden. At other times, it's gradual. Tempura has chosen the latter. He is not avoiding my hand anymore, leans a little  and I even found him resting today in the main area of his kennel, laying on his back, his four in the air...It was a cute sight! I will not finish this bio today as I know that I will have even better news to tell tomorrow after I meet Tempura again. Stay tuned but anyway, come to see Tempura  and help him get out of his shell. Home is near, Tempura....
Update(5/19/25) Tempura has definitively made progress. He is not confined 100% to his cubby anymore. He enjoys petting and purrs. He lounges in his living room and even started to play with a laser beam and a catnip toy. Play is a sign that given a patient and understanding new owner, Tempura will get to be a pet, a beloved kitty with a name and not a number in a crowd anymore in his new home.
