My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Clawdia

Clawdia is a gentle 2-year-old feline who’s looking for a calm, cozy home where she can truly come into her own. At first, she prefers to hang back and quietly observe the world from her favorite safe spot — but once she realizes you’re a friend, her sweet side shines through like sunshine after a storm.

She’s the kind of cat who blossoms slowly, rewarding patience with soft purrs, gentle head bumps, and quiet companionship. Clawdia would be happiest in a low-traffic home with older children who understand the value of giving her space to settle in at her own pace.

Clawdia is currently co-habitating with multiple cats at our shelter and seems to enjoy their presence. However, we still recommend a slow introduction between Clawdia and any potential feline friends living in her forever home. A slow intro will help ensure that both Clawdia and her new cat companions feel safe and comfortable as they adjust to each other`s presence.

If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in earning a shy cat’s trust and watching her personality bloom day by day, Clawdia may just be your perfect match.

Come meet this lovely lady and show her what it feels like to be truly home.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
