Pansy is one of 13 dogs recently rescued from unsanitary living conditions in Passaic when their owner was being evicted. The dogs were all scared, matted, and not socialized outside the home but are all warming up nicely and sweet little ones once they feel safe. They LOVE other dogs and rely on them for security, so will need to be adopted into homes that have another friendly dog in the household OR can be adopted in compatible pairs. They will all need some patience walking on leash and working on housebreaking, typical of dogs from puppy mill and hoarding situations but this crew is very people-focused and soaking up all the attention they are getting. They are currently in the process of being vetted, groomed, and spayed/neutered and will be ready for homes very soon... please submit an application to meet them by appointment once they are ready.

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
