Meet Fenix Your Loyal, Blue-Hued Bestie! Looking for a handsome, housebroken hunk with a heart of gold? Meet Fenix, a 4-year-old blue-coated boy with a zest for life and a serious love for snuggles! At around 7075 pounds, Fenix is a velcro dog in the best wayhell stick by your side, soak up all the pets, and be your biggest fan. Hes got the basics down pat: sit, down, off, shakeand hes working on perfecting his leash manners (he just gets so excited to see the world!). Hes also a grass connoisseur yep, he likes a little salad on his walks. Fenix is: Completely housebroken (hell even whimper at the door to let you know!) Dog-friendly from day one Smart and eager to please Not destructive when left alone Hes got a high prey drive and a big personality, so hell thrive with an active adopter who can keep him mentally and physically engaged. A home with small pets like cats or tiny dogs may be too tempting for his prey drive, but hed love to have one or two larger, playful dog buddies to romp around with! Having another dog in the home really helps keep Fenix grounded and relaxedwhether you're hanging out together or heading out to do human stuff, he finds comfort and confidence in canine companionship. Fenix has made great strides with leash manners and reactivity since arriving in foster care. The world can be a bit overstimulating for him, but with continued guidance, hes learning to stay calm and focused. A note from his foster: Hes come a long way and is such a sweet, loving dog. He just needs the right environment to shine. A Note About His Past: Fenix was involved in an unfortunate incident where a child was accidentally injured during a moment of startled contact. It was not an act of aggression, but rather a reaction to being surprised in a high-stress situation. Since then, hes shown no signs of biting behavior and has been nothing but gentle and affectionate in his foster home. Out of an abundance of caution, Fenix will do best in an adult-only home with someone experienced in reading dog body language and committed to helping him continue to thrive.

More about this rescue
Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit group whose primary mission is to help with the rescue & placement of Weims in the Great Lakes region; including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ontario.
Dogs that enter our rescue are placed into our foster care network which provides a stable, loving family environment. Each dog's medical & emotional needs are provided for as they wait for their new "forever" home. We believe that every dog deserves a chance to enjoy a good life. We adhere to a "no-kill" philosophy.
GLWR was created in an effort to support & provide for the rescue, recovery, care, rehabilitation & re-homing of Weims in need across the Great Lakes region. No one individual is GLWR...we came together to form a collective & collaborative organization with our sole purpose being to assist Weims in need. We work with the various networks of shelters and containment facilities in several states as well as accept owner relinquishments. We exist solely on the generous donations of those who love these majestic "gray ghosts" as much as we do & the fund raising efforts of our very talented and energetic group. All funds received are used to support the vet care & other essential expenses necessary in the daily care of the dogs.
We believe in doing everything possible to help a dog make the transition to their forever home. We are here for the Weims & the Weims alone...our reward lies not in the accolades of being "rescuers" but in the gratitude we see in the bright, loving eyes of one of our Weims as they move onto their forever home... dogs that were once sad, dejected, & without hope that now have a chance to experience the love and warmth of a family that will truly love and care for them.
