Meet Ricky, the sleek black house panther. Ricky grew up in a foster home with his littermates and is now ready for adoption. His foster reports: Ricky wants to be your lap cat. He starts purring right away when picked up and held like a baby and likes to curl up for pets on your lap. He is extremely curious and playful. He was very gentle with the 5 year old human who helped foster him and used his litterbox purrfectly. He was very interested in the adult resident cat but nervous around the resident dog. If you want a cat to keep you cozy this winter, Ricky is your guy.`

Since Ricky did grow up indoors, we would like to keep him safe and healthy as an indoor cat as he ages.

Ricky`s adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation thanks to “Leave No One Behind fund” – designed to adopter’s eyes towards animals who have been in the Shelter’s care a little longer than average waiting for the right adopter.

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
