My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 02/10/2025)  Meet Annie — the radiant Retriever mix whose personality can brighten even the cloudiest day. From the moment she enters a room, Annie’s charm shines. She adores being with her people, walks beautifully on leash (like she’s been doing it her whole life!), has mastered the doggie door, and becomes an A+ snuggle buddy once she knows you. She’ll flash you a smile right when you need it most and never hesitates to share her sweet kisses.

Annie prefers to be the queen of her castle — she’s not a fan of sharing her space with other furry roommates. She’ll thrive as the only dog in a home with active, dog-savvy humans who can give her time, structure, and patient guidance. A fenced yard is ideal, and apartment living just isn’t her style. If you work from home, she’d be thrilled, though it’s not required — just know she might get creative with her dog bed when boredom strikes.

This fun-loving girl enjoys toys, adventures, and exploring new places, but she’s equally happy curling up on the couch to soak in all the affection. She rides nicely on short car trips and is continuing to build confidence with longer distances.

A home without cats is best. Annie’s gentle nature makes her a good fit for older kiddos, though she may be a bit too playful for toddlers.

She has adjusted wonderfully to her crate, is fully housebroken, and can snooze through eight+ hours without a problem — she’s very proud of keeping her space tidy.

Annie is ready to be someone’s everything. With love, consistency, and a forever home to call her own, she’ll give you her whole heart right back.

As part of Annie’s $325 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Annie, you can complete an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
