He's honestly a man for all seasons, but August is coming in hot as he is fast, handsome and smart all in one package and that is summertime hot! August is a husky come shepherd mix who is an
adult weighing about 42 lbs now full grown. August loves to run and is an active dude looking for active people and he ain't afraid of no adventure either. August does well with other dogs though prefers to be the big man in his friend groups. This man is the total package of fun, love and brains and will prove a great companion for people who thrive on the unique characteristics of his breed mix. It might be winter that's a'coming, but August will bring in the warmth to these cold nights!
*Sleepover Feedback: "August was the sweetest, most wonderful dog for the weekend! We were so blessed to host him. He would take note of and react to other dogs on our walk - not at all aggressive or loud - seemed like he wanted to play! He’s a bit timid to get in the car initially, but once he’s in, he settles down quite easily. He is a fantastic sleeper. Overall, August is such a warm, loyal, and cuddly companion."
*Additional feedback: "August’ name sums him up so well; he is warm, energetic and his sunny disposition feels like a hug.August settled into our home very quickly, displaying manners while still letting his personality shine. He is full of energy and enjoyed our long walks and city exploration".
Weekend Host Feedback: "August was a joy to have. He immediately became best buds with my shepherd mix, Daisy. They played hard and slept well the entire weekend. He settled extremely well around 10 both nights to go to bed. With that he did amazing in his crate both nights and only whined once he heard me get up in the morning. He did really well on the leash. He learned/is learning to not jump for treats and to sit, but he is an extremely fast learner and seems eager to impress. He didn't pull beyond the initial getting out the door on walks both with Daisy and by himself. He seemed to love car rides, and doesn't seem to lack any confidence. The only time he barked the entire weekend was when someone passed directly outside the glass door to my backyard."

More about this rescue
Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.
We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
