My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bigfoot!

Bigfoot is a lovable senior gentleman who came to the shelter as a stray on 11/4 and is ready to enjoy the comforts of a forever home. He is incredibly affectionate and well mannered, with a big heart to match his name. Bigfoot loves being close to his person and will happily sit near you—or even in your lap—when given the chance.

One of Bigfoot’s favorite activities is playing fetch! He enthusiastically chases the ball and proudly drops it right in your lap to keep the game going. He’s easy to leash, enjoys his walks, and while he may pull a bit, he’s very manageable and pleasant to walk. Volunteers note that he prefers staying close to his handler and is calm and easy on the return back to the kennel.

Bigfoot is treat-motivated and eager to engage—he can be a little enthusiastic when taking treats, so slow delivery works best. He’s friendly, gentle, and enjoys spending quality time with his people. In group settings, he’s tolerant of other dogs and generally easy-going.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal senior who loves fetch, cuddles, and being by your side, Bigfoot could be the perfect match.

More about this shelter

Marion County Animal Services is the largest animal shelter in our county. Operating as a no-kill shelter, our kennels are almost always full. We provide adoption, fostering opportunities, work with rescues, accept volunteers and provide the training for veterinary assisting students. In addition, we run the Neuter Commuter and provide all animal control services in Marion County.
Due to the sheer volume of animals in our care, we need lots of help from our community in our effort to adopt out more and save more!
We don't only accept the ideal animals into our shelter. We can offer you quite the array of animal breeds and personalites! Keep an open mind when visiting our shelter- you may find that your perfect match is not at all what you set out to find.
We're here to help you as well as our homeless and lovable animals.
