Pita is a gentle, maybe a year-old Lab/Hound mix who has come a long way since being rescued from a hoarding situation in Texas. Now safe in a loving foster home near Olympia, she’s discovering what it means to feel secure, cared for, and part of a family. She is potty trained!
This sweet girl is on the shy side and can be slow to warm up to new people—although some people she is comfortable with asap!. Understandable given her past—but once she trusts you, she blossoms into an affectionate, playful friendly, loyal companion who loves nothing more than curling up next to someone on the couch. She looks like she wakes up and puts on eyeliner every morning and can melt your heart with her big brown eyes.
Pita currently lives with two children (ages 5 and 9) and has been gentle and patient in her foster home. Still, because of her timid nature, she would thrive perhaps in a quieter environment with adults or older kids who can give her the calm, steady reassurance she needs. She also tested fine with cats in Texas. She walks well on a front clip harness.

Currently ALL dogs we have posted from Lufkin-Kurth Texas are not only human and dog friendly but cat friendly too!
She is not totally 1`00% confident yet, so perhaps no toddlers who can run/scream, perhaps older children which would be a calmer home. Likely she would adore being with another dog. We were informed Bo is his brother.
Many dogs are impossible to say the breeds but it is anyone's guess. As we know, mutts statistically speaking will live longer and have less vet bills!. All of our Lufkin Kurth Texas dogs were hand selected and are literally their favorites. Everyone who has adopted adores their dogs.
She will totally win you over. , Please do apply!!! All our dogs are spay/neutered, current on DHPP and rabies shots, microchipped, tested hw negative, so all of that is done. Our adoptions include professional dog rescue transport to WA and health certificates (vet visit just prior to coming to WA).

Upcoming events: Tractor Supply, 4141 Martin Way E Suite 105, Olympia, WA 98516. The events at Tractor Supply are Saturdays at 2-4 pm. Dec event at Tractor supply is Dec 20th 2-4 pm on a Saturday, typically the 3rd of 4th Sat of the month at Tractor Supply.

We used to call ourselves Shayne's Rescue as we used to rescue dogs. Now, we are Shayne's Fosters as we foster TX rescue pups & dogs.. We assist several TX rescuers where shelters kill 80-99% of what comes in besides the millions and millions of strays on the streets. Hence, we foster for TX rescues who do impeccable jobs of vetting, quarantine all of their pups/dogs and send up the best dogs we have ever met. All have a health certificate prior to transport (vet visit). We work super hard volunteering and we can always use more assistance from volunteers!
