My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our beautiful chocolate girl Cocoa is almost recovered from her spay surgery so she’s now accepting applications for her furever family!

Cocoa is 7 years young and is very sweet, craves love and affection, likes belly rubs, and if you’re petting her and you stop she will nudge you to continue the pets. Or if you have a free hand, she’ll give you something to do…pet her.

Cocoa is well-behaved and enjoys walks and walks nicely on the leash, but she also loves running around the yard. She respects the furniture and doesn’t try to get up on it, but can be an opportunist with the trash so just something you need to keep an eye on. She lets you know when she wants to go out and is a great sleeper.

She’s still a little shy meeting new people but warms up to you, giving her treats helps. Even though she lived in the city and you would think she would be used to loud noises, they still startle her at times. With time her confidence will build, so she’ll need a patient family to let her set the pace to let her to blossom. Could that be you?

Cocoa is housetrained, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

To be considered a possible match for Cocoa, the first step is the adoption application which you can find here: https://jlrrescue.org/adoption-application/

Additional adoption info

Once you are approved we will start looking for your new dog. If you are already interested in a particular dog, your application will be submitted for that dog and if it's a good fit you can be matched with that dog. We will set up a meeting with the dog and if all goes well at the meeting you will take the dog home to start a two week pre-adoptive period. If all goes well in the two weeks, we will come out and finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

Jax's Labrador Retriever Rescue was founded to rescue Labrador Retrievers, Lab Mixes and other sporting breed dogs from the heart-breaking conditions of shelters. Our particular focus is on less "Labby" looking mixes, harder to place dogs, and those that have a more difficult time getting adopted, but absolutely deserve the chance to escape the shelter and find a safe and loving home. Anyone who has ever owned a Lab or Lab mix knows how precious they are, and the positive impact these dogs make on the families who rescue them. With your help, we can end the dismal cycle of abandoned and abused shelter dogs, and place these dogs in the safe environment where they belong.
