Willow is a 5 month old terrier mix who weighs 20lbs. Willow was born without eyes. She was brought into the vet clinic by a man who had her poured brake fluid in her ear to kill ticks. He didn’t know if he wanted to euthanize her or keep her outside in a 10x10 pen. Luckily the vet and vet techs talked him into letting them have her. Even though she has no eyes it doesn’t slow her down at all. She LOVES everyone she meets. She knows how to use the doggy door and the ramp to get on the bed. She loves to play with the other dogs or chill out with her toys or bone. She really loves her toy that dispenses treats when she moves it just right. She sleeps all night in her crate no problem. She has the best personality, you can’t help but love her.
A family who is interested in adopting Willow does not need to have any special skills to care for a blind dog, but the willingness to learn is key. She would benefit from having another dog in her life to help her figure things out, and auditory cues such as bells on the door where she should go out, and people who talk to her and help to train her with scent and auditory cues will be great!
If you have interest in Willow or any of our sweeties please fill out the adoption application.
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. Once approved, we expect a potential family to travel to the dog in the foster setting so that they are introduced where they are feeling safe and loved.
Thank you for considering rescue!
