History: Shane was brought in on 1/28/25 as a very injured stray. He appeared to have been attacked by another animal that left him in severe pain. He had puncture holes in his neck and face, and his bottom jaw was broken in half. Thankfully he arrived when our vet was here, and she was able to quickly sedate him. The holes in his neck were cleaned well with a tube placed in them to help the constant drainage and infection. His jaw was sutured together, and he had to remain on a can food diet for weeks as it healed. As if that was not bad enough, he was also dehydrated, underweight, flea infested, and had horrific ear infections. He showed us how strong he was the moment he arrived though by eating can food almost as soon as he woke up from anesthesia, regardless of the pain his jaw had to have been in.
Personality: Shane is such a sweet, old soul who just craves being with people that will love and spoil him. He meows his little meow every morning as he waits for the kennel team to get to his kennel where he can get the two things he enjoys most in life; food and attention. We have noticed that he has a great fear of dogs when he is anywhere near them (which makes us wonder if a dog is what attacked him pre us), so he will need to go to a home that is dog-free.
Medical Needs: Shane has healed from his wounds 99% of the way. His jaw has fully healed and he is now able to eat dry food. He does have one last sore healing by his ear that our vet is closely monitoring. Shane is FIV positive.
