My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ronnie, a smart 2-year-old hound mix with a heart of gold and soft brown eyes that will melt you every time he looks at you. He is a loyal, affectionate companion who thrives in an environment where he can get plenty of love and exercise. Whether it’s a hike, a walk around the neighborhood, or just a good play session in the yard, Ronnie is up for the adventure. He’s also a great car passenger—so if you love road trips, Ronnie will make the perfect travel buddy! He is house-trained, crate-trained (not his preference) and is working on perfecting his leash manners.

Playful: Ronnie loves to play, especially with balls and stuffed toys.

Affectionate: He’s a cuddle bug who enjoys being around people, and those sweet brown eyes are sure to steal your heart.

Active: Ronnie loves to be outside, so he is best suited for an active family that enjoys hikes, walks, and outdoor adventures.

Social: He loves to be around his people and gets along well with other dogs and will thrive with a playful canine companion, especially one that’s equally active or as an only dog. Due to his size and energy, any children should be at least 12 years old.

Food Motivated: Ronnie accepts treats nicely and is eager to please, making him easy to train.

Happy and Healthy: He is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped.

If you are looking for a sweet, smart, loyal and lively addition to your family, Ronnie is ready!

  • You may not be an undergraduate student.

  • You must be a US citizen or green card holder.

Adoption Process

  • Fill out an adoption interest application HERE.

  • Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

  • You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

  • Note: IAR makes every effort to please our adopters, but our first concern must be for the animal’s welfare. We reserve the right to deny any application.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
