Hi there, my name is Superstar Mars, but you can call me Mars! I am pretty super, especially with my gorgeous smoky coat and big beautiful eyes.
I sometimes don’t feel like a superstar though- I’ve bounced around to several homes and the shelter through no fault of my own, so I can be nervous in new places. I’m looking for someone to help me gain confidence and show that I am ready to wear a cape and be brave! My foster mom says that I would definitely save the world if it meant I could get all the wet food I wanted.
Once I’m comfortable I’m very vocal and would love to chat more with you about how a nice quiet home can turn me into the true superstar I was meant to be!
🐾 WELCOME HOME! 🐾
Bringing Your New Kitty Home: What to Expect
Thank you for adopting and giving this kitty a second chance! Here’s what you need to know for a smooth transition:
🛏 Start Small
Set your cat up in one quiet room with a litter box, food, water, and a hiding spot (like a covered bed or cardboard box). Let them explore slowly and on their terms.
⏳ Give Time
Even the friendliest cats may be shy at first. Expect 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to settle in, and up to 3 months to fully adjust. Be patient—they're learning to trust!
It’s normal for cats to hide for the first 24–72 hours.
Adult cats, especially, may take even longer to feel safe. As long as they’re eating, drinking, and using the litter box, hiding is okay!
🍽 Feed & Hydrate
Keep food and water dishes in a quiet, accessible spot. Follow any diet info provided. Monitor eating, drinking, and litter box habits the first few days.
🚽 Litter Box Basics
Show them where the box is right away. Keep it clean and use unscented, clumping litter unless otherwise noted.
🐱 Interactions
Let your cat come to you. Avoid loud noises or too much handling early on. Use gentle voices and slow blinks to build trust.
🐕 Introducing to Other Pets?
Slow and steady wins the race! Keep your new kitty separated at first and take your time with introductions.
🧸 Playtime & Enrichment
Interactive toys, scratching posts, and window views help relieve stress and build confidence.
