Smokey...named for her beautiful grey coat color has been in our care since November 2025 after animal control picked her up as a stray. This 10 year old Terrier mix has adjusted well to shelter life and loves spending time with our staff. She prefers to keep her kennel clean, and her bedding it a neat and tidy pile. She loves toys, peanut butter, cuddling, and spending time outside. She is dog friendly and would love to meet your pup if you have one. She is heartworm negative, and will be spayed upon adoption. HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
