Tankie is the BEST boy! He's friendly, quiet, and affectionate. Tankie was in a loving home, but there were issue with allergies, so he needed a new place. His people responsibly places him in Rescue, knowing we would complete his vet care and screen potential adopters. Tankie is a little shy but so very sweet. He will be someone's everything! Potential adopters need to be mindful of his puppiness. He chews on things he shouldn't, and he is a work in progress on his training. But he's eager to please, and treat motivated. Tankie will require regular grooming, so that additional cost needs to be considered. Currently Tankie is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He's heartworm negative and has been on preventative for fleas and heartworm. Tankie is not yet at his adult weight at 13#. Full grown he might reach 18#. Tankie is timid, but warms up in a short amount time. Tankie's adoption fee is $550.

Meet the Pet
Once the completed application is recieved and approved, the meeting is set up. You will be contacted by the foster for the pet.

Home Check
A home check is done either in person or remotely to assess the practicality of the home and environment for the pet you are interested in.

Pay Fee
The adoption fees for the pets range from $375 and up depending on the pet. We have 2 programs that offer a discount, for seniors & veterans

**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee ($375 and up), we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption application, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control to complete a home visit.

Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently.
