Pickle is on the at-risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. He came from a home with a large number of cats where he was comfortable with his people but is struggling in the shelter setting. He is now displaying signs of increased levels of FAS and is showing defensive, distance increasing behaviors. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give him plenty of time and space and who have experience with helping an under socialized and fearful cat adjust to strangers and new environments.

Pickle came from a home with many cats and is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Because his previous owner/rescuer reports he is friendly, affectionate, quiet, preferring to spend his time where his owner/family are - and "is a sweet cuddly dude who is just a curious boy" in a home environment. We believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet, but is really struggling in the shelter environment. This cat is suitable for adopters with previous cat experience who are willing to work with an under socialized cat who needs time and patience to help him adjust to their new home.
