Smokey is a very good and happy boy. His dad has become unable to care for himself and so this very good boy and his brother, Lucky, are needing a new forever home. Their dad is a kind man who let the boys have the run of the house and yard. The family members caring for them now report that the boys are progressing well with their house manners. Once boundaries are re-established, it seems both Smokey and Lucky are good in the house. They are affectionate pets and are fine with encouragement on the leash. These very worthy boys are waiting for the next chapter. We want this that to be with a person as loving as the first. Please consider Smokey and possibly Lucky too. Both boys are neutered, and just had dentals. They had vaccines updated and had negative heartworm tests. Lucky has no vision in his right eye due to a previous illness.

Meet the Pet
Once the completed application is recieved and approved, the meeting is set up. You will be contacted by the foster for the pet.

Home Check
A home check is done either in person or remotely to assess the practicality of the home and environment for the pet you are interested in.

Pay Fee
The adoption fees for the pets range from $375 and up depending on the pet. We have 2 programs that offer a discount, for seniors & veterans

**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee ($375 and up), we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption application, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control to complete a home visit.

We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently.
