My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Socialization: Quinn has had limited exposure to different environments and experiences. He will need gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement when introduced to new situations, people, and other animals. Patience and calm, consistent handling will help his build confidence over time.

Training: Training is going very well! Quinn has learned his name and responds reliably to basic commands such as sit, come, walk, outside, no, and off. He’s also doing great with house manners—no counter surfing (at least when people are present!). Quinn walks nicely on a leash without pulling.

He can still be a bit cautious in unfamiliar situations, especially when encountering things he hasn’t seen before, such as blow-up yard decorations moving in the wind. With gentle reassurance, he recovers quickly. Quinn is a quick learner who continues to gain confidence every day.

Crate trained: Quinn is quiet and well-behaved while in his crate. He has been crated successfully when his foster is away and occasionally at night. However, he does not yet go into the crate on command—this is still a work in progress. With continued positive reinforcement, he’s likely to pick it up quickly.

Leash trained: Walks nicely on a leash without pulling or running after cats, rabbits, squirrels.    Cautious of meeting new people at parks or on walks.

Activity level/requirements: Quinn is an average setter activity and does require exercise.  We walk daily and play some ball in the yard.

Fence requirements: Due to Quinn's limited life experiences and fearful nature of new things, it is highly recommended that he has a yard with a 6' fence.  He has not tried to escape in foster, but he is tall and athletic.

Personality: Quinn has a sweet, loving personality and is a true gentle soul. He has shown no signs of aggression toward people or other dogs and enjoys calm companionship. Quinn is looking for a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe and cherished. He’ll be happiest with plenty of pets, a few favorite toys, and a cozy blanket to call his own. This affectionate boy is ready to share his heart with his forever family.

Health history: UTD on vaccinations, is spayed/neutered, microchipped, & on monthly heartworm preventative.

Foster comments:  Meet Quinn – The Gentle Soul Finding His Way Quinn is a stunning Irish Red and White Setter with a heart as soft as his coat. At 5 years old, Quinn is experiencing the real life of a dog for the very first time — learning what it means to be loved, to play, and to trust.Though he came from a unique situation where he wasn’t exposed to people or the typical joys of a dog’s world, Quinn is blossoming beautifully in his foster home. Once he feels safe, his shy demeanor gives way to a sweet, cuddly companion who loves gentle affection and quiet moments with his humans. Quinn has discovered the fun of balls, toys, and chew bones, and he enjoys sharing his space with the other two friendly dogs in his foster home. He hasn’t met any cats yet, but he shows little interest in chasing squirrels — a calm and thoughtful boy at heart.Children and their quick movements can be a bit scary for Quinn right now, but he’s learning that the world isn’t such a loud, scary place. His foster family is helping him g et used to new sounds and experiences at a pace that makes him comfortable.
While Quinn doesn’t eagerly run to his crate just yet, he settles in quietly once inside and rests peacefully without a peep. He’s learning the routines of a happy home — no couches or beds for this gentleman, just his favorite soft blanket, which he loves to fluff and nestle into for long, cozy naps. Quinn is ready for a patient, loving adopter who can continue showing him the beautiful side of life — full of trust, safety, and gentle joy. With time and kindness, Quinn will reward his forever family with endless loyalty and quiet affection.  If you’re looking for a gentle soul to grow with, Quinn might just be your perfect match.
