585-820-2849 ADOPT SMOKEY! A DECLAWED and affectionate kitty who needs a great home!!

Cat located in this city: daytona beach
Cat’s Name: Smokey
Cat’s Age & Sex: 11 years old, male
Cat’s vetting history (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped): neutered, vaccinated and front claws declawed
Animals story: (where found and reason for wanting to rehome): I have had Smokey since he was just a kitten, but now my life is so busy with a 3 year old and a newborn, full time nurse and wife, I do not have time for him. He needs a compassionate home with people who have time to give him the attention and affection he needs. He also has hyperthyroidism, and it is a lot for me to maintain with his medicine along with keeping tiny humans alive. Smokey takes methimazole, I get a 3 month supply for $70. He does not need to see a vet often, typically yearly or if they ask to do a quick blood draw.
He does not pee or poop outside the liter box and he is not grumpy, just a loving cat
Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes): friendly, playful, snuggly. He is such a sweet boy!!
Any Supplies that go with pet (food, litter, leash, cat box, bedding, toys): food, cat box in an enclosed wooden furniture piece
What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): wet in the morning and dry throughout the day
:::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry food and ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this).

*Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you.
