Meet Penny. She is a quiet, gentle soul who has already been through more than most dogs should — but her heart is still full of love and hope. She is a 4 year old, female, Beagle mixed breed. Penny came from an unfortunate situation and was days away from being euthanized. She is slowly learning that the world can be a kind and safe place. She’s a bit shy at first, but with patience and a soft voice, she quickly shows how sweet and affectionate she can be. Once she feels comfortable, Penny’s personality shines through — she loves gentle pets, calm companionship, and the security of being near someone she trusts. She’s an incredibly lovely pup — the kind of dog who will quietly follow you from room to room just to be close.
Penny would do best in a peaceful home with patient adopters who can give her time to adjust at her own pace. Another friendly, confident dog might help her feel even more secure. This resilient girl is very ready for her second chance at happiness. She is up to date on vaccinations and has been spayed.

More about this rescue
We are a volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill shelter.
Visit our website at HeartofRI.org for an in depth view of our policies, procedures, fees, and exactly what they include.
Unfortunately, due to past issues with landlords/housing/insurance, a restricted breed policy is in place for Bully breed/Pit Bull type dogs. This means that you must own your home and provide proof of homeownership to adopt a Bully breed/Pit Bull dog or puppy. While we understand that this may be an inconvenience, it is necessary to help reduce the number of devastated dogs being returned. We apologize for the inconvenience.
