Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Shortie. My brother Whiskers and I are superheroes of our own kind. One chilly night, we ventured out to save our friend, a tiny mouse lost near the big road. Using our super whiskers, we guided him to safety but found ourselves too far from our first home. Luckily, a kind human spotted us and brought us here to the shelter. We're now on a new mission to find a forever home where we can spread our love and bravery. If you're looking for cuddly and courageous companions, we're the perfect duo for you!

If the pet is already spayed/neutered, and we're not waiting on a meet & greet or medical results to come back, the pet can go home TODAY!

Additional adoption info

VHS Adoption hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00-6:00 pm Central Standard Time.

Our adoption fees are as follows:

Cats & kittens: $100
Dogs older than 6 months: $200
Puppies under 6 months: $250
Rabbits: $50

Dog and cat adoption fees include the animal's spay or neuter, nationally-registered microchip, and age-appropriate vaccinations.

Please visit our shelter between the hours of 12:00 noon CST and 6:00 pm CST Tuesday through Saturday to adopt an animal, no appointment needed!

The Vanderburgh Humane Society, Inc. (VHS), a tax exempt, 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 1957. We receive no tax-based funding whatsoever. Therefore, we depend on the generosity of the corporate community and the public at large to continue, and hopefully expand, the much needed services we offer.
