Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you looking for a new BFF? So am I. My name is Marley. My previous owner couldn't afford my care. So, I'm looking for a new furever home.
I'm about 2 years old, 23 pounds and have the longest eyelashes you've ever seen. I'm neutered, up to date on my shots, heartworm negative and chipped. I also go potty outside. When I came to SOCKS, I wasn't in the best of shape: matted coat, blood work was out of whack, and staph and ear infections. I needed a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA). The vet told us that I wouldn't be able to hear. However, my foster mom will tell you otherwise. She has seen how I react when called or a toy is being squeaked. My hearing may be impaired somewhat, or I'm just being selective. She did teach me some hand signals just in case. I'm pretty good at them...most of the time.
I'm a really sweet boy who enjoys exploring and running in a fenced yard. I LOVE going for walks and car rides. I walk pretty decently on a leash. My favorite spot is laying on the back of the sofa to take a nap or watch for unwanted critters in the backyard. I'll let you know if someone is at the door. My favorite toys are the soft latex ones. But the plush ones are okay, too. At bedtime, my foster dad and I have a routine where I woller around and playfully chew on his fingers a bit, or maybe his ear... or even his nose. I don't hurt him. It's all in fun. When I'm laying on the back of the sofa and my foster mom is in front of me and has food, I'll put my head on her shoulder to let her know that I would like a bite. I do take treats gently.
I get along fine with my foster fur brother. He's not one to play much but sometimes we play chase in the yard. I may bark at other dogs on those walks that I LOVE to go on. My foster mom took me to visit the cat next door. After a couple of sniffs, he was no big deal. My hooman sister's cat doesn't like dogs. But I didn't try to chase him. If I see cats out on a walk, I'll bark at them. Sometimes we see kids when we are walking. I usually bark at them at first. But after I've had a chance to sniff them, we are good. One thing that I don't like is to be left alone. I can get a bit vocal with my displeasure. An apartment may not be the best place for me. I am doing better.
My pawfect furever home would be one where I have a fenced yard to run, explore and watch the world go by. My hooman would be retired or work from home so I'm not alone much. We would go for walks so I could explore the neighborhood.

SOCKS adopts to families in Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama, and southeastern Mississippi. If you are out of the state of Florida, you would need to travel to Florida to complete your adoption. Please note that we do check vet references, and your current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing, and be able to provide proof of purchase of heartworm prevention. All dogs and cats in your home must be spayed or neutered. We will not set up a meet and greet until your application has been received, reviewed, and approved. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first served basis. We will accept applications and then screen all and choose the best match. Only approved applicants will be contacted.
