Say hello to King, a Lab mix with a beautiful face and an even more beautiful soul. He may start off just a tiny bit shy—give him about five seconds—and then he’s all in, especially if you have treats. He LOVES treats and will happily show off his tricks for them! King already knows sit and shake, walks well on leash, and has that classic Lab joy that shines through in everything he does. He’s playful, goofy, and wonderfully derpy in the best way—he’s the kind of dog who can make you smile without even trying. He’s very affectionate, gives excellent kisses, and seems interested in other dogs, making him a great candidate for a doggy friend with a proper meet and greet. Fun Fact: When King gets excited, his whole back end wiggles like it has a mind of its own! All shelter locations are conducting animal viewing and adoptions on a first come, first serve basis. We are not able to move a pet from one location to another for your viewing.
The adoption fee is waived for all available pets in care and in foster homes. Standard adoption practices will still be in place, including background checks.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) expanded the shelter days of service to seven days a week with operational hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pet viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m for both the east and west side shelter locations.
