This helps Cody's Friends Rescue with pet care costs.
Sweet Pea's journey is a testament to incredible resilience and an unwavering spirit.
The First Rescue (November 2022): Sweet Pea was found tragically abandoned in a parking lot shortly after giving birth to a litter of puppies but puppies were not located and due to her emaciated condition it is possible that she lost the puppies. She was in a dire strates:
• Severely Underweight: Her physical condition indicated long-term neglect.
• Dental Damage: Her teeth were severely worn, suggesting she had resorted to eating non-food items, perhaps even rocks, just to try and fill her starving belly.
• Heartworm Positive: She was also battling a serious case of heartworm disease.
She was lovingly nursed back to health by her original foster parents, received necessary dental care, and successfully completed her heartworm treatment, blossoming into a happy, healthy dog. She was then adopted hoping her hardships were over. Sadly, life dealt Sweet Pea another cruel blow. Nearly three years after finding her first home, her adopter moved away and left Sweet Pea behind dumping her near a local park. She was quickly picked by Arlington Animal Control and returned to her very first foster.
The Second Chance (Almost 3 Years Later): She was in great condition and very glad to be back with her original finder. Since returning to original foster, she has demonstrated that she remembers her original foster and is a velcro dog. She gets along with other household pets but needs to warm a little when confronted with other animals. Health is good, appetite is good and she is glad to be safe. We would like for her to find a forever home and a foster to advocate for her.
