My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

---

Meet Spots!
Spots is a 20-week-old Jack Russell/Greyhound mix with a whole lot of personality packed into his tiny frame. This adorable little guy is expected to stay small—topping out at around 20 pounds—and is as cute as a button.

Spots is full of energy, joy, and curiosity. He loves to play, explore, and be part of whatever fun is happening around him. He also happens to be deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down or dim his bright spirit. Spots is already learning how to navigate the world with confidence, and he’ll thrive with a family willing to guide him using visual cues, consistency, and lots of love.

If you can make room in your home and your heart for a special pup who will give that love right back, Spots is ready to meet you. He’s waiting for the forever home he truly deserves.

More about this shelter

At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need. This is the legacy of our founder Robert Kleinstuber, who began the shelter in 1959 as a memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff.

Our mission is to protect and serve animals during their greatest time of need, assist our community pets and their people, and offer homeless pets a second chance at a first-rate life. By providing humane education along with free or low-cost resources, we hope to reduce the homeless pet population in our area.

We currently provide animal control impound services for 12 municipalities in Orange & Sullivan Counties and are proud to provide low-cost spay/neuter clinics, adoption and re-homing services, humane education, and community assistance to the tri-state area.
