My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEL is a big, sweet boy who has lovely green eyes, long whiskers and is around 2 years old. He’s quite handsome with his brown tiger markings. Mel is a brave and curious guy. He is very friendly to everyone he meets, walking right up to newcomers to greet them with a meow and a leg rub. He loves sitting in the windowsill or on his scratching post watching outside, taking naps in the sun and playing during his evening zoomies. Mel usually prefers sitting near you to sitting on your lap but likes to be in the same room with his foster. Mel loves to play with big bursts of energy and will often resort to laying down and playing passively when he gets tired. His favorite toy is an interactive wand that goes around in circles and he loves catnip toys. He is comfortable being held and has the softest little purrs. He loves food and treats and will let you know when it’s meal time with his meows but don’t let him talk you into overfeeding him. If you're looking for a sweet and playful guy to bring love into your home, Mel could be your perfect match. His foster says he is the nicest cat she has ever met.

Mel has not been around other animals in our program and would probably like being the only pet. He may be fine with older respectful children because he is so calm but he has not been around kids in our program.

Mel is neutered, FeLV and FIV negative, and distemper and rabies vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Call 651-771-5662 to inquire about this sweet boy.

Additional adoption info

Initial contact is made by leaving a message on the Second Chance's answering machine - expect a return call within 24 hours. Potential adopters will be screened before a referral is made to the foster home where the animal is currently housed. They can expect to fill out a written application, sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee when meeting the animals. Adopters must be at least 20 years old. If renting, the landlord's consent in writing is required or a copy of the lease brought with adopter at time of adoption. Must have familiarity with local animal ordinances so you know how many cats/dogs you are permitted - this will vary from city to city. Potential adopters must understand that their application can be denied.
