My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Charlie is about 2 years old and weighs 25 pounds.

Charlie’s past was painful—he came from an animal cruelty situation where love was scarce and fear was constant. Now, he’s learning that kindness exists, and he’s slowly opening up to the idea of trust. But he needs a home that understands his journey.

Sudden movements and being grabbed can send Charlie into a panic—his body still remembers what it’s like to be hurt and he gets scared. A calm, child-free home where people move gently and speak softly would help him feel safe. He’s afraid of being left alone in the yard, so an apartment or condo with a predictable routine and regular walks would be ideal.

Charlie plays rough with other dogs and prefers the company of larger female pups who can match his energy and give him space. He’s quirky, resilient, and full of potential—but he needs someone who sees past the fear and into the heart of a dog who’s never truly been loved.

Adopt Charlie and be the safe place he’s been searching for all along.

He is located in our rescue in Hondo, Texas.

Charlie is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and his adoption fee is $325. Charlie is available for transport to St. Augustine, FL on December 20, 2025. The transport fee is $125.
