My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

– Bonded with Shylo –

Houdini is a truly amazing, big and beautiful 9-year-old panther with soulful eyes and a personality that is equal parts gentle, charming, and quietly hilarious. He delights in life’s simple pleasures: a cozy place to lounge, Churu treats, and kind humans. His absolute favorite thing in the world? Belly rubs. Houdini will happily roll onto his back to invite you in. He may act as though he’s been deprived, but don’t be fooled - he’s a volunteer favorite and receives plenty of “Buddha belly” rubs every single day.

He gets along very well with other cats and brings a calm, steady presence to his surroundings. While he can be sensitive to loud or sudden changes, a peaceful environment and a patient approach help him relax and show what a wonderful companion he truly is. Houdini shares a deep bond with Shylo, who arrived at HART with him, and because of their close connection, they must be adopted together.

Houdini does have some medical needs, but they don’t slow him down from enjoying life. He is diabetic and currently managed with a low-carbohydrate diet to support his health and weight goals, and he may require insulin in the future. He also has hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) with a small amount of fluid in his chest, which is monitored by a cardiologist. With continued care, he is stable and doing well.

Houdini and Shylo would thrive in a quiet, predictable home without young children or dogs - a place where they can feel safe, settle in at their own pace, and continue to blossom. In return, they offer deep companionship, affection, and the kind of connection that comes from earning the trust of two very special cats.

If you’re ready to open your heart to a bonded pair who will reward your patience with love, loyalty, and plenty of tender moments, Houdini and Shylo may be your perfect match.
